West Nipissing Police hold awards event

Once again the West Nipissing Police have recognized officers, civilian members of the force and the regular public for their achievements.

A double recipient at this year’s awards was Constable Marleau who along with three other people, helped save a life when he was off duty.

The three people who helped Marleau were Gilles Villeneuve, Martine Desormiers and Caroline Desbois.

The group was awarded the Chief’s Commendation.

Marleau was also acknowledged for his many years of service as a school and community liaison officer.

Two other constables were also awarded the Chief’s Commendation for their lifesaving acts.

They are Constable Mantha and Constable Gagne.

Another constable, Julie Birkland, received her Canadian Peace Keeping Medal for her mission to Haiti.

The ceremony also recognized the work of Constables K. Paquette and Gladu for their work on solving multi-jurisdictional crimes.

On the civilian side, Anita Corriveau received appreciation for her anti-fraud sessions with seniors.

In addition four dispatchers resigned recently.

They are Susanne Philion, Julie Martin, Kyla McKenzie and Jessy Pederson and each was recognized for their outstanding work and dedication over the years.

A small business and its owners were also recognized by the West Nipissing Police.

Patricia and Pierre Deforge and LeTaxi were acknowledged for their organizing work for the annual barbeque that raises money for the local Shop with a Cop program which helps children in the municipality.
