Canadore president explains why enrolment up at the college

The President of Canadore College says there are several reasons why the school is enjoying a high enrolment this year.

Enrolment is up 10 percent.

The rise bucks the provincial trend where only a handful of colleges saw a rise.

However it also continues a multi-year trend where Canadore has seen steady growth with more students heading to the school.

College President George Burton says the steady stream of students is a testament to the work of the faculty and staff at Canadore who all work hard in their respective fields.

He says the results are also due to the college’s entrepreneurial drive.

“We invest back into the institution and community to enhance the learning experience in North Bay and beyond,” Burton said.

Burton acknowledges Canadore is on the right track and that’s also due to being “in tune to the market place”.

“If our graduates didn’t get jobs, why then would a student come to Canadore,” Burton said.

“They come because of the quality of our programs and the jobs at the end of their programs.”
