A man in Garson who held off police following a shooting is dead.
As a result, the Special Investigations Unit is now on the case.
The incident began shortly after 6:30pm Wednesday when a 57-year-old woman was shot and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Sudbury police surrounded the home where a 63-year-old man was holed up and early Thursday morning a tactical unit from Barrie arrived.

The specialty squad went into the home shortly after noon on Thursday and found the man dead.
There’s no word on how he died.
Sudbury police say the man and woman knew each other.
