West Nipissing Police Chief responds to critical postings of local police

West Nipissing Police Chief Ray St. Pierre is fighting back over social media postings and rumours involving the local police.

The postings question the ability of the West Nipissing Police to effectively police the municipality.

St. Pierre says many of the officers have specialized training in areas like drugs, frauds and investigations.

St. Pierre says the local police have carried out a number of drug seizures over the last several months that involve opioids like fentanyl.

The Chief says when the local police confront a case where they don’t have the resources, then just like every other municipal force, they call the OPP.

St. Pierre says the men and women who make up the West Nipissing Police are committed to the community.

Also over the years those officers have developed local knowledge and contacts that they use in their daily duties.

St. Pierre says the local police perform their duties very well which helps ensure the safety of the community.
