North Bay police looking into fraud case

North Bay Police are investigating a case of credit card fraud where a woman saw $7,500 tacked on to her credit card

Police say a woman thought she was talking to an RCMP officer who asked her to help him solve an internal bank theft.

She would help catch the thief by giving the man she thought was a federal cop her credit card information.

When the woman agreed to help the caller and gave out her information, the charge of $7,500 appeared on her credit card.

At that time she called the North Bay Police to report the fraud.

The North Bay Police say police agencies don’t call homeowners or businesses asking for money to help them with an investigation.

There is more information at www.antifraudcentre.ca on how to avoid becoming the victim of scam artists.
