Area group wants Tories to follow through on $15 an hour minimum wage

The group Nipissing Decent Work has started a petition to make sure Premier Doug Ford increases the minimum wage to $15 an hour next January like the former Liberal government intended.

Ford said during the election campaign it was his intention to keep the minimum wage at $14 an hour and as an alternative he would introduce measures that let people keep more off their money.

However Nipissing Decent Work says there are a lot of low wage earners in Nipissing who deserve decent work.

Group spokeswoman Lindsay Voisin says businesses have managed very well when labour changes, including the bump to 14 dollars an hour, took effect this year.
