Verner library opens at new home for time being

It took almost four months, but residents of Verner finally have a library once again.

The library is being temporarily housed in the Knights of Columbus building in the community.

Up until this week, the library had been without a home ever since being forced out of the Verner Municipal Building in late April because the facility was declared unsafe.

Although other tenants found temporary quarters, relocating the library proved to be difficult.

It was able to move to the Knights of Columbus hall after the municipality worked out an agreement with the organization.

Meanwhile staff are hoping to tender out work to repair the municipal building as soon as possible.

The scope of the work involved to make the building habitable again is being examined and that includes the work to demolish the former gym.
