NFN leukemia patient getting help from two young friends

The family of a 10-year-old Nipissing First Nation boy who has seen his leukemia return, is getting help to cover some expenses the family faces.

The help is coming from the friends of Makenzy Lariviere who are holding a lemonade and baked goods fundraiser this weekend with all the proceeds going to the Larivieres during their stay in Toronto.

The friends are Tristan Wells and Cole Penasse and they’ll be at the Great Northern Flea Market on Salter Street in Sturgeon Falls this Sunday.

Lariviere will be going through clinical trial therapy to beat the leukemia once more assuming he’s approved for the trials.

He’s had several bouts of the blood disease since he was two and has fought back each time.

The youngster is at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital and staying at Ronald McDonald House with family.

The two boys trying to help are cousins and are very good friends with Lariviere.
