West Nipissing police officer administers naloxone to woman in distress

Last week, West Nipissing Police responded to a 911 call in the Verner area that tested the training of its officers.

The police were informed that a man was acting very strangely and jumping on vehicles. The officer attended the location and observed a man and a woman in a nearby vehicle. The man was questioned and displayed obvious signs of having ingested some sort of drug. The officer observed what he believed to be drugs in the vehicle.

The man was taken into custody and the officer then dealt with the unconscious female. The female’s breathing was very shallow and slow and the officer recognized that she may be overdosing. The officer administered naloxone and the woman regained consciousness. Emergency Medical Services were requested and both the female and male received medical treatment.

The officer seized a substantial amount of crack cocaine and cocaine from the vehicle.
