Police seize 1,000 meth pills after traffic complaint

Last Friday, officers with the West Nipissing Police Service seized 1,000 methamphetamine pills and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency from a vehicle.

Police say they were investigating a traffic complaint of a vehicle being driven erratically. The officers located the vehicle near Park Street in Sturgeon Falls. When questioned by the police, the driver of the vehicle provided a false name.

Officers were able to determine the man’s true identity and discovered that he was a suspended driver.

The 44-year-old Sudbury man was arrested and police then seized the methamphetamine pills and money from the vehicle. He has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, obstruct police, and drive while under suspension.

Anyone with information about these occurrences is asked to contact the West Nipissing Police Service at 705-753-1234. For those who wish to remain anonymous, there are three ways to contact Near North Crime Stoppers. Call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text the word “Nipper” plus the tip information to CRIMES (274637), or submit a tip online at nearnorthcrimestoppers.com.
