The days of the public walking onto the grounds of the West Nipissing Power Generation Plant are coming to an end.
The facility is erecting an eight-foot high fence to act as a safety valve.
Mayor Joanne Savage says public access to the site is already prohibited but that hasn’t stopped people from venturing onto the property.
Savage says there was one incident last year that could have had devastating consequences when people became stranded as a result of the dam going into operation.

It will take about a month to put up the fence.
The plan is to run it from the spill dam to just south of Queen Street at the Pumping Station.
Savage says the fence won’t affect the walking path in the area.
