Playground in limbo for now in Tamerack area of Sturgeon Falls

Plans to create a playground for parents with children in the Tamerack area of Sturgeon Falls are on hold.

West Nipissing council has a petition from parents in the area requesting the playground however, two factors have held up a decision.

One is how involved the parents will become with the project.

On this point, Councillor Yvon Duhaime told the parents a while ago that they may need to fundraise to help make the playground a reality and partner their effort with the municipality.

The second factor is two different people are interested in buying some of the available land the playground would occupy.

Some councillors like that idea because by selling part of the land, proceeds from the sale can go toward developing the playground.

However it was also noted that the land is littered with many rocks.

A concern here is if the land is sold, would there be enough land remaining to make the playground a reality without the rocks becoming a factor in its development.
