IPM group given permission to use West Nipissing Joie de Vivre slogan

The IPM committee has the go ahead to use West Nipissing’s Joie de Vivre slogan when it comes to promoting the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.

However councillors Denise Brisson and Normand Roberge oppose granting permission because the committee wants to include an English translation of the slogan.

Both believe the slogan should remain in French.

However Mayor Joanne Savage and the IPM committee both point out there are people in Southern Ontario and elsewhere who won’t understand the slogan if it remains in French.

Roberge and Brisson were outvoted and council ruled the committee can use the slogan which it intends to display in both official languages on its marketing material.

The committee gave council an example of what the IPM logo could look like and it translates Joie de Vivre to Love Life.

Verner is hosting the International Plowing Match next year in September and the event is expected to attract tens of thousands of people.
