Lifejackets buy time to rescue capsized boaters

The Anishinabek Police Service is reminding boaters of the importance of wearing personal floatation devices while on their boats.
This after a case of a capsized boat in which police had assistance from the public that resulted in a positive outcome. Last week, members of the Anishinabek Police and the Nipissing Fisheries Department received a distress call to Yellek Trail. Two boaters had fallen into Lake Nipissing after their boat capsized.
Two area homeowners used their private boat and assisted the officers in rescuing the boaters.
Those boaters lived to tell the tale because they were both wearing lifejackets and were able to use a cell phone to call for help. The lifejackets bought the two boaters some time on Lake Nipissing while the homeowners launched their boat so they could bring the Anishinabek Police Service officers out to them.
