West Nipissing gun amnesty nets eight firearms

During the recent gun amnesty, eight firearms were turned in by individuals in West Nipissing and disposed of.

The West Nipissing Police Service and police services across Ontario held a month-long gun amnesty program in April. Between the OPP and municipal agencies, a total of 2,192 guns were voluntarily surrendered province-wide.

Police say the initiative was very successful and provided residents with a safe way to surrender firearms.

Anyone that still wants to turn over weapons they are not legally entitled to own or no longer want are encouraged to contact the police but are reminded that under no circumstances should anyone ever deliver guns or ammunition directly to police facilities.
