Timiskaming-Cochrane NOP candidate says party wants a northern-only hydro grid

The Northern Ontario Party candidate for Timiskaming-Cochrane says our electricity bills don’t have to be as high as they are.

Shawn Poirier says one of the party’s members is a retired worker from Ontario Power Generation who says the north has more than enough Green hydro.

Poirier says the NOP wants to see a Northern Ontario-only grid that the party says would bring rates down.

Poirier says the NOP also wants the high executive salaries at Hydro One capped.

He says there are people making millions of dollars each year and the NOP is proposing a $500,000 cap.

Poirier says money saved by capping the salaries could be used to bring down high electricity rates.

On Wednesday we will post comments from Casey Lalonde who represents the Green Party in the riding.
