Timiskaming-Cochrane Tory candidate Margaret Williams says P.C.’s have a plan to bring down sky high hydro bills

An issue Margaret Williams runs into constantly in Timiskaming-Cochrane is the high cost of electricity.

The P. C. candidate says Liberal policies have created situations where some people have to choose to either eat or heat their homes.

Williams says while families struggle, Hydro One executives continue to rake in big bucks.

She says the Tories would end that by using every measure at their disposal to remove “the millionaires’ club” at Hydro One.

“Hydro executives are taking home millions of dollars in bonuses while hydro rates go up,” Williams said.

She says that includes the CEO of the utility who was handed a $1.7 million dollar bonus.

Williams adds this would help restore trust and accountability for the people of Ontario.

Williams says thanks to a wide range of Liberal policies since 2003 when they took power, Hydro rates have tripled.

However she says the Progressive Conservatives will cut hydro by 12 percent as a first step to bringing lower rates back to consumers.

On Tuesday we will post comments about hydro from Northern Ontario Party candidate Shawn Poirier.
