The Francophone group CANO in West Nipissing is pursuing a major arts and culture festival. West Nipissing council’s share for the festival is $30,000. The entire event, which celebrates both official languages, would cost about one quarter of a million dollars. CANO needs to apply to the federal government by September 19th for funding. Council will have a resolution at next Tuesday’s meeting saying it’s a partner in the event clearing the way for the application to go ahead. Meanwhile councillor Paul Finley says CANO should talk to Festivals Ontario about helping to fund next year’s festival.
