FedNor gives West Nipissing nearly $200,000 for IPM

The federal government is helping West Nipissing pull off a successful International Plowing Match and Rural Expo next year.

It’s awarded the municipality $191,250 under FedNor to hire a project coordinator who will market and recruit volunteers.

It’s estimated that about 1,000 people will be needed to hold the five day event.

But much of the work will be done before that as Verner gets ready to welcome thousands of people.

In the past, IPMs have seen as many as 80,000 visitors descend on their communities.

This is the second time the IPM will be held in Northern Ontario.

Earlton did it first in 2009 and attracted tens of thousands of people.

Marc Serre, the MP for Nickel Belt delivered the FedNor news.

West Nipissing will host the IPM and Rural Expo from September 17th to the 21st next year.
