Work continues to resolve Champlain Motel issues

West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage says work continues to address concerns surrounding the Champlain Motel.

In early January, 15 tenants at the motel were forced out when the municipality’s Chief Building Officer condemned the building saying it was not suitable for living.

Savage says the planning department is working with the owner and insurance company to ensure all issues are addressed including refuse surrounding the motel on Highway 17.

Savage says the public can be reassured the issue is being looked at and remains active.

The displaced tenants were relocated to other sites.
