Job postings rise in Nipissing during February

February was a good month for people to be looking for work in Nipissing District.

The Labour Market Group says employers put up 389 job postings which was 57 more openings over January.

The number is also a big jump over the three year moving average for February.

That figure stood at 358 meaning the February statistic is an 8.8 per cent increase from past years.

Zedd Customer Solutions led the top five employers looking for people to fill 25 vacancies.

The Best Western and Statistics Canada were tied for second, each with 20 job postings while the North Bay Regional Health Centre was looking for 11 employees and Laidlaw Carriers Van had 10 vacancies.

At nearly 16 per cent, health care and social assistance was the top sector looking for people in Nipissing.

The next industry on the list is administrative and support, waste management and remediation services at almost 14 per cent followed by the retail sector at just under 13 per cent.

The accommodation and food services industry at 10 per cent and public administration at 8.5 per cent round out the top five industries.

In terms of occupation, sales and service far outstripped all other categories capturing 30 per cent of the work out there followed by the trades, transportation and equipment operators a distant second at 17 per cent.
