Man charged after speeding through crash site and almost hits OPP officer

A Woodstock area man face numerous charges after leading the OPP and Quebec Provincial Police on a chase on Highway 63.

OPP began chasing the man when he sped through a crash scene involving a tractor trailer almost hitting an officer Wednesday evening.

Police had the highway closed at the time.

The man and his pick-up were spotted in Temiscaming, Quebec where he eluded police and began driving back toward North Bay on Highway 63.

The man was eventually stopped in Phelps Township.

Among the charges the 30-year-old faces are flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while suspended.

He’s also charged with disobeying an officer directing traffic which is connected to the tractor trailer crash.
