Two West Nipissing young girls spotlighted at World Women’s Curling championship in North Bay

As the World Women’s Curling Championship continues in North Bay, two young curlers from West Nipissing are part of the spotlight.   Twelve-year-old Lia Shank and nine-year-olds Emily Lachapelle are representing the Sturgeon Falls Curling Club as winners of the Future Stars program.  Curling Club spokesman Rene Rochon says both young girls will escort two of the international women’s teams onto the ice.    Emily will escort Sweden onto the ice for Tuesday night’s game and then on Friday Lia escorts Team U.S.A.  Both girls will also get a team jacket of the team they walk out with as well as a group picture and tour the TSN mobile TV van.    Curling culminates with the championships games on Sunday.
