NFN to serve as hosts for 2020 Little NHL Tournament

With the recent news that two Warriors hockey teams repeated their championships at the Little Native Hockey League tournament, comes more great news.

The tournament will continue to be played in Mississauga but for each year of the five-year deal, different hosts are being selected.

In 2020, Nipissing First Nation will host.

More than 200 First Nation hockey teams and more than 3,000 players, plus thousands of parents, families, and spectators from across the province attend the event annually. Mississauga has become the home base due to the proximity of many arenas a short drive away. Accommodations are more readily available in Mississauga, as well.

Nipissing First Nation volunteers’ duties for the event will include planning the opening ceremonies, scheduling games, and registration. Volunteers will also keep the lines of communication open with the hundreds of teams and will be responsible for individual and team awards.

If you are interested in volunteering for the 2020 Little NHL Tournament, contact Jennifer or Christina Beaucage, the team organizers.
