We’re getting a little closer to spring and that means warmer daytime temperatures and maple syrup. In Monetville, the owners of the Sucrerie Seguin Sugar Bush are getting ready for Maple Weekend across Ontario next month. Dan Seguin has already started tapping his maple trees and depending on weather, the amount of sap collected can vary ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 gallons of sap. All that sap eventually produces about 200 gallons of maple syrup. Co-owner Tracy Seguin says the Monetville site will have a variety of maple-themed products on hand like maple butter and tastings will also be provided. In addition there will be guided tours and visitors will learn about French and First Nation culture. Maple Weekend is April 7th and 8th.
