Four of the World Women’s Curling teams are practicing in Sturgeon Falls this week ahead of next week’s world championship in North Bay. They’re at the local curling club and spokesman Rene Rochon says first one team contacted the club and that quickly escalated. He says first the Czech Republic called the club and that was quickly followed by calls from the teams from Denmark, Japan and Sweden which won the gold medal at the Winter Olympics. The teams begin practicing today and a highlight on Tuesday is the Czech Republic playing the Sturgeon Falls in an exhibition game. All the practice sessions are free.
