Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas, who is also the NDP’s health critic, must be wondering what’s going on. Gelinas wants to know why residents in the northeast have to fundraise to get a new PET scanner but not Southern Ontario communities. From 2010 to 2016 the northeast has raised $3.5 million for a PET scanner promised two years ago. Gelinas says the northeast is still waiting for the unit and now there’s word the province is paying for a PET scanner in the south that will be operational in a matter of months.
