West Nipissing councillors and the mayor meet tonight to see how to reduce a projected tax increase of nearly 6.7 percent. That’s the hike council faces following its first budget meeting. Mayor Joanne Savage says elected officials will meet with employees and staff to see how to bring the number down. Savage says the meeting will include information from the various municipal boards and what cost savings they can bring to the table. Talks will also centre on how to save money with municipally-owned buildings. The 6:45pm meeting is open to the public and takes place in the council chambers.
