Local schools to benefit from high-speed internet upgrades

Forty-three Near North District School Board schools will benefit from improvements to their high-speed internet as part of a commitment to bolstering internet access at all publicly funded schools across the province.

Province-wide it will affect over 250,000 students at approximately 850 schools.

Indira Naidoo-Harris, Minister of Education, made the announcement about the next wave of schools to receive funding in Ontario’s broadband modernization program. The Minister says the investment supports the vision of an education system that provides all students in Ontario with the tools and resources to reach their full potential.

Ontario is investing in the next phase of its commitment to improving access to high-speed internet in all publicly funded schools across the province. This investment brings the total commitment for this initiative to $90 million.
