Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is weighing in on the mental health and addictions crisis facing the Nipissing DSSAB. The issue has overwhelmed the board and the crisis has hit the local police where mental health calls are through the roof. Fedeli says there’s something wrong with this picture. He says the police board should not have to cover mental health issues through local tax dollars. He says mental health is a provincial issue and should be funded properly. The Tory MPP adds that since this is an election year, the provincial government will be making many promises and may deliver on some of them The DSSAB has asked the province for an extra $2.5 million to cope with the mental health and addictions crisis.
