West Nipissing is getting ready for another conference after a very successful firefighters conference. Next up for the municipality is the Northeastern Ontario Recreation Association conference in late September. This annual event will attract more that 100 delegates from across the northeast. They’ll get site tours of the area as part of the program and on the fun side, a corn roast is planned at Leisure Farms. Meanwhile more than 200 people took in the Firefighters Association of Ontario conference held just a couple of weeks ago in Sturgeon Falls. The association told locals that the organization exceeded expectations. One attraction during the firefighters’ conference was training on extinguishing a live fire and 50 firefighters participated.
