Despite advance warning that they would target speeding transport trailers in the Sudbury and Parry Sound Districts, police charged 15 commercial vehicle drivers with speeding. OPP, Sudbury city police and the Ministry of Transportation carried out the blitz on Tuesday and Wednesday. They used both moving and stationary radar. In addition, some of the commercial vehicles had minor defects. So far this year, 17 per cent of collisions on highways in the north east have involved commercial vehicles. The law enforcement agencies dubbed their blitz Project Slow Down.
