West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage isn’t happy that a councillor posted misleading information on Facebook involving Minnehaha Bay. Referring to the post, Savage says the councillor didn’t believe that some elected officials were being honest over what council paid for the work. Savage says the councillor decided to see staff about the numbers. She says after getting the figures, the councillor posted them on social media but left out important information. When mentioning the $2.1 million figure, the post fails to mention the amount includes $700,000 from a private sector partnership. Savage says it means the municipal share was really $1.3 million and not $2.1 million as the unnamed councillor wrongly suggests in his post. Savage says this issue could have been avoided had the councillor asked for clarification at a council meeting.
