Potential OPP building for West Nipissing may cost less than first proposed

There’s a possibility that a new OPP building for West Nipissing could cost less than the initial figure of $8 million.  Chief Administration Officer Jay Barbeau has talked to the OPP and government officials and says that possibility was raised.   However in updating council about the OPP switchover, Barbeau emphasized this was only a possibility and was not confirmed.  The OPP need a new building because it says the current municipal facility is inadequate for its needs.   Normally the OPP would assume policing control of West Nipissing once a new building is open.  However Barbeau did confirm that the OPP could take over sooner and operate out of a temporary site while waiting for a new building to go up.
