Demand for pediatric services to increase in the northeast

The North East Local Health Integration Network says pediatric services are expected to grow up to 40 percent by 2028.  Over the years, the LHIN has found that children in the northeast have poorer health than other kids in Ontario.  It says rates of autism, diabetes, cancer, mental illness and self-harm are higher in the northeast than elsewhere.  To help ensure issues are addressed, the LHIN has hired a pediatric medical advisor who will help health care workers with program development, education and overall care.
