A petition asking West Nipissing council to rescind a motion on switching to the OPP has a lot of support. Former councillor Lise Senecal told Moose News she was still expecting forms to come in today but the latest count shows support exceeded expectations. Senecal believes council didn’t have all the information it needs to make an informed decision on whether the OPP should replace the municipal police. The petition, which Senecal will give to council tonight, asks it to hold a referendum on the matter during this fall’s municipal election.
