If you plan on visiting anyone at the West Nipissing General Hospital, here’s a reminder that it’s now illegal to smoke anywhere on hospital property including the hospital grounds. The smoking ban went into effect yesterday as a result of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act prohibiting all smoking in hospitals across Ontario. The prohibition also applies to hospital employees and patients. Also, don’t expect to be able to light one up in the smoking shelters the hospital had in place because they’re gone. If you need to smoke, you have to do it off hospital property. To help patients as a result of the full ban, the hospital will give them nicotine replacement therapy.
