Smoking ban coming up at hospital

It’s now illegal to light up a cigarette at the West Nipissing General Hospital or any hospital in Ontario.   That’s because the Smoke-Free Ontario Act bans smoking on all hospital grounds.   The ban applies to visitors, hospital employees and patients.   The West Nipissing General has removed the smoking shelters it had in place to accommodate smokers.   Anyone at the hospital who feels the urge to smoke can only do so off the property.   The hospital will also provide nicotine replacement therapy to its patients.
