Serre encourages communities to take part in Smart Cities Challenge

A handful of communities in Canada are in line to receive millions of dollars if their ideas improve the lives of their residents.  And Marc Serre, the MP for Nickel Belt hopes communities in the riding, including West Nipissing, can develop a winning idea.   The national program is called the Smart Cities Challenge where residents use technology, innovation and data to improve everyone’s lives.   Interested groups, which include municipal governments, have until April 28th to submit their ideas.   The finalists will get $250,000 to develop the idea and the winning proposals will get $5-million, $10-million or $50-million to make them a reality.
