Altering look of island in Lake Temagami results in $2,500 in fines

A Temagami man who changed the look of a small island in Lake Temagami has been fined $2,500.  Sean Leroux was convicted under the Public Lands Act for dredging and filling shore lands without a permit.  He was hit with $1,500 fines for each offense.  As part of the penalty, Leroux has to rehabilitate the area that he changed.  The court heard Leroux removed erosion protection material from Chimo Lake then filled the lake’s bottom with sand and rock.  The incidents took place during 2015 and 2016.
