OPP field numerous questions from West Nipissing residents over costing study

West Nipissing residents asked the OPP a lot of questions Wednesday night over what it would cost to replace the municipal department with the provincial force.   And representatives from the OPP answered those questions.  Questions included how the switch-over would affect taxes, would current services change and how the exiting police employees would transfer to the OPP.  Another person also suggested holding a referendum.

People also wanted to know how long the change would take in the event council opts to go the OPP route.  Council is tentatively scheduled to make a decision on whether to switch to the OPP at its December 5th meeting.  However that vote could be delayed if members of council believe they need more time to assess the OPP costing study and also staff analysis.
