Guilty plea in financial irregularities case involving Municipality of West Nipissing

The North Bay Nugget is reporting that the owner of MX Constructors will serve six months of house arrest in connection with charges of fraud over $5,000 and uttering forged documents.   The judge told Steve Morrison he wasn’t putting him behind bars so that he can keep people employed by operating his business.  Morrison and two other men were charged after the OPP began investigating financial irregularities at the Municipality of West Nipissing in January 2016.  The two others go to court next February.  The Nugget says Morrison also directed his lawyer to pay the municipality $75,000 dollars as restitution.
