Credit card fraud scam present in West Nipissing

West Nipissing police are warning residents to watch for a credit card scam underway.  Inspector Ray St. Pierre says it starts with someone calling homeowners claiming to work for a credit card company.  Once the fraudster has your attention, St. Pierre says he starts the con by saying their credit cards are showing suspicious activity.  The caller than asks for the card number and other information.   St. Pierre says don’t fall for this because credit card companies don’t make this kind of call.   He says tell the caller you’ll call the credit card company yourself to verify whether your card has been used illegally.
