A Sturgeon Falls weightlifter has qualified for the Pan AM Masters taking place in Gaspe, Quebec next summer. Sylvie Guenette did that by winning gold in her 50 to 54 age group at the Canadian Masters Open in Montreal. In the process she also broke her own record in the clean and jerk by lifting 140.8 pounds. Guenette competes in the 63 kilogram division.
