Timmins explains why its a prime location for Ring of Fire smelter

Four northern cities are making the case for why they’re best situated to host a smelter to process ore from the Ring of Fire.  Timmins is the latest to say it’s a prime spot because it has rail lines to transport the ore and it has past experience with smelters and refineries.  Mayor Steve Black adds the city has a workforce ready to staff a smelter.  The $1 billion project is being proposed by Noront Resources which is the largest miner at the Ring of Fire.  The other contenders are Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay and they need to get their proposals into Noront by February 2nd.
