Bed crisis at North Bay hospital

There’s a bed crisis at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.  Hospital spokeswoman Tiz Silveri says several factors are causing the shortage.  They include the loss of 66 beds after the Lady Isabelle Nursing Home in Trout Creek closed.  Silveri says as a result, the hospital is beyond its capacity to respond to the number of visitors it’s getting in emergency.  She says some surgeries may be delayed or cancelled, patients could see early discharges and others could be put in unconventional beds.
