West Nipissing may change how it deals with water and sewer main issues. Right now municipal staff fixes the problems however Mayor Joanne Savage says that takes away work from local businesses. Savage says the recommendation is to have homeowners call a plumber or contractor to fix the matter. She adds if the problem originated on the municipal side, homeowners don’t have to worry because town hall will reimburse the owner. Savage also says if a homeowner can’t get someone from the private sector to do the work, the municipality will step in so there’s concern that someone is left without services.
