It’s a total of $4,000 in fines for a Sturgeon Falls man after an illegal deer hunt north of the community. Eric Giroux was on Highway 539 in November, 2015 when he saw a deer on private property. He parked on the highway shoulder then shot at the deer from across the roadway. Shooting across a highway is illegal and Giroux got a $2,000 fine for that. He was fined another $2,000 for trespassing because he didn’t have permission to hunt on private property. The court also gave Giroux a two year hunting ban.
