North Bay wants federal agency to investigate Ontera sale

The competition bureau is being asked to investigate the sale of Ontera.  North Bay council is making the request and also wants the CRTC to examine the sale.  Deputy mayor Tanya Vrebosch says the provincial government allowed the sale to go ahead and the deal will be finalized in just a few weeks.  But Vrebosch says the province hasn’t proven that the deal is good for consumers or that it protects them.  She says the Ontera sale to Bell Aliant creates a telecommunications monopoly in the northeast meaning that costs go up with no competition.
