Illegal ice fishing on Lake Nipissing results in $8,600 fines against three men

Fishing illegally for walleye in Lake Nipissing will cost three Southern Ontario men $8,600 in fines plus suspensions.   One of the men was fined a total of $3,200 for abandoning 16 walleye suitable for eating and fishing without a license.   This man also faces a two year ban on fishing.  The other two were fined $2,900 and $2,500 for catching 15 walleye that don’t meet regulation size.   Both of these men are also barred from fishing for seven months.   The three were ice fishing on the lake this past February and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry got a call about them abandoning a large number of fish.
